Wearing a Native Indian Costume for Halloween
Now that you finally narrowed your decision down to what you want to specifically be for Halloween this year, you’re facing lots of different choices about how to accessorize your costume to completely pull off the look. Maybe you are even looking to enter and win a Halloween competition this year. If you have decided to wear a native Indian costume for Halloween, you’ll need to know the details about this type of outfit and how to best dress it up to complete the impressive costume.
The first decision that you need to make is which type of native Indian costume you want to begin to work with. There are several different type
s including: the chieftain, the warrior, or the Indian princess. Here are some of the design details for each of those types of costumes.
- The Indian princess – All good girls will want to choose this type of native Indian costume for Halloween. The princess usually has a long wig with black hair cascading down her back that is sometimes separated into two braids that hang down on either side of her face. This frames her sweet looking face and identifies her as one of the royalty of the tribe. The princess can wear a beautiful necklace around her neck and a single feather in her headband at the back as accessories of her beauty.
- The chieftain – With this type of costume, you can deftly feel like you’re the leader of the tribe because, truthfully, you are! The chieftain wears the typical fringed brown or tan outfit, however his look is characterized with an elaborate feather headdress that sits on top of the head with the feathers cascading down the back. Typically it was only the men of the tribe who were the leaders. But men or women can be chieftain today; it’s Halloween!
- The warrior – Naturally a Native Indian warrior costume is going to include a weapon of some sort. A plastic Tomahawk or battle ax will complete the look of the fierce warrior brave. These costumes generally consist of two pieces that are short and light. Face paint is also a must for this type of Halloween costume. It makes the trick-or-treater appear fierce and ready for battle.
Chances are you will be one of the few who have chosen this type of traditional costume. Choose for yourself which native Indian costumes will work best for you and then really “become” that character to showcase the perfect Halloween costume this year.
